Nadir Vissanjy

BS, International Business Management
School of Business and Economics

Nadir's drive to become successful in academics and as a student leader stems from his family background and their struggle to have a better life here in the United States. Born in Portugal, Nadir moved to the United States with his mother, aunt, and sister. Life has not been easy for his family, and working beside them in low-paying jobs has shown Nadir how difficult it is to earn a good living and how important a college education is in this society. A Dean's List student with an overall grade point average of 3.6, Nadir has been in the top 10 percent of his class and prides himself on doing well under pressure. After graduation, Nadir plans on pursuing a master's degree in Public Administration to prepare himself for a career in public service.

As a community service advisor (CSA) for Residential Life, Nadir provided support to students who live on campus, and helped develop programs and events to enrich their college experience. This year Nadir was re-elected for a second term as Associated Students President, and in that capacity is very active in the areas of politics, public service, university relations, and student government. In this role he serves the interests of Sonoma State University students and advocates on their behalf to the University, the California State University, and to our legislative representatives in Sacramento. Nadir also serves as the chair of the California State Student Association.
